Raising disturbing yet pertinent questions that plague us a peoples and society. This project was commissioned by the Jogjarkarta Biennale, Indonesia, 2015.
Participants will deliberate, relate with one another, and respond to issues by writing on canvasses.
Through this work, I invite audiences to participate in relational painting activities with thoughts on in-depth significance of learning, its processes, and content.
Participants will deliberate, relate with one another, and respond to issues by writing on canvasses and adding to my work, or perhaps completing it.
I have many pertinent questions on my mind, questions such as -
What kind of a society are we?
What kind of a society would we prefer to be?
What are we teaching all members of our societies today - especially young people?
How do we go about these?
Are we a developed society?
Do we build trust? Do we extend care?
Do we render help?
Do we have respect for one another and for constituted authorities?
Are we fair in our dealings with one another? With Nigeria and Indonesia for example, colonial domination changed us but as a people, what is original or indigenous about us?
How have we grown?
