This work was commissioned by the Jogjarkarta Biennial, for the exhibition Hacking Conflict in 2015.
This is from the I Learnt This series relational public art, created in collaboration with the public - young and adults - at Jogjarkata, Indonesia.
Through these public art projects, I engage and try to impact society with my thoughts and experiences via my work.
I have many pertinent questions on my mind, questions such as -
What kind of a society are we?
What kind of a society would we prefer to be?
What are we teaching all members of our societies today - especially young people?
How do we go about these?
Are we a developed society?
Do we build trust? Do we extend care?
Do we render help?
Do we have respect for one another and for constituted authorities?
Are we fair in our dealings with one another? With Nigeria and Indonesia for example, colonial domination changed us but as a people, what is original or indigenous about us?
How have we grown?
